Route 422 motorcycle crash reportedly amputates rider’s leg
Route 422 westbound in Muddy Creek Township closed to traffic at around 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, after a motorcycle crashed on the bridge over Lake Arthur reportedly amputating a leg of the rider, according to firefighters at the scene.
A medical helicopter flew to the scene where first responders set up a landing zone on the bridge, according to Butler County emergency dispatch. The eastbound lane also closed to traffic to allow the helicopter to land.
Portersville Muddy Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department, Prospect VFD, Butler EMS and Portersville EMS responded to the scene. State police are investigating. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has been notified of the crash, and crews said they do not know how long the road will be closed.
