Hays eagles produce a spare

The prolific eagles in Pittsburgh’s Hays neighborhood have produced a second egg.

The livestream that allows anyone with an internet connection to view the huge Hays nest turned up the second egg Monday evening.

The first egg was laid Friday night.

Last year, the female eagle laid three eggs. All three hatched last year, and the birds eventually fledged the nest.

The much-viewed bald eagles have produced young each year on the hillside in Hays for the past 11 years.

The livestream was created through a partnership between the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania and PixCams through a special state Game Commission permit.

The Hays bald eagle nest livestream can be viewed on the Butler Eagle website, butlereagle.com.
