Eau Claire man arrested in fatal shooting

An Eau Claire man has been arrested and charged with homicide following the Thursday night, March 2, shooting of a Venango County man, state police said.

Dakota Brent Hughes, 22, was charged with homicide and other offenses after Seth Thomas Gooden Smith, 27, of Polk was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in a home on Main Street in Eau Claire, police said.
The shooting took place at 7:41 p.m. Hughes was taken into custody and is being held in the Butler County Prison. Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident.
