Man fires shot in Harrisville; charges filed

A 41-year-old man was accused of threatening to “execute” a 19-year-old man and firing a gun in Harrisville, according to state police.

Manuel R. Garciglia, of Freedom, was charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanors reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, harassment and simple assault following an incident that happened at 5:47 a.m. Saturday, March 4.

Police said they were dispatched to a disturbance on South Main Street, Harrisville, and came in contact with the 19-year-old male, who said that Garciglia arrived at his residence and engaged in an altercation.

According to police, Garciglia brandished a Smith & Wesson .380-caliber pistol and told the 19-year-old he would “execute” him. Garciglia then fired the handgun into the air, and the two men separated, police said.

The incident was recorded on surveillance footage, police said, and there was one witness.

Garciglia was placed into Butler County Prison on Saturday in lieu of $25,000 bail. His preliminary hearing before District Judge Joseph Nash is scheduled for March 15.
