A 16-year-old male from Chicora was taken to a hospital after state police said he crashed his vehicle into a house Sunday, March 12, afternoon along Chicora Road.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, and documents indicate the driver was under the influence.

Police said around 12:14 p.m., the juvenile was driving east on Chicora Road in a Chevrolet Captiva when the vehicle left the roadway. The SUV hit a mailbox and struck a house at 842 Chicora Road.

The teen was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, police said.

The crash report showed that the use of alcohol or drugs could have played a role in the crash, but the investigation is still pending.
