The Pilot Travel Center in Muddy Creek Township was scammed into depositing $5,000 into separate cryptocurrency kiosks as payment for a bogus Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspection, state police said in a news release Monday.

Police said the center received numerous calls from people claiming to represent OSHA and FedEx saying its inspection was expiring and it had to pay a large amount of money to be compliant.

Police said $2,000 was recovered during the investigation.
