BUTLER TWP — A car was found overturned in a creek along Delwood Road on Wednesday morning, but the driver was nowhere to be found.

The severely damaged black Mazda sedan was flipped onto its roof in water along Delwood Road near train tracks

Scott Fredrick, the township’s emergency services director, said crews arrived on scene shortly after 9:40 a.m.

“Upon arrival, no occupants were found. The immediate area was searched,” he said. “It’s flipped over in there.”

The cause of the wreck has not yet been determined.

Gasoline leaked into the creek as a result of the crash, but Fredrick said it was cleaned up shortly after they arrived.

Traffic was briefly stopped as a tow truck removed the car from the water.

Butler Township and Butler City police and Butler Township Volunteer Fire District responded to the scene.
