ZELIENOPLE — Borough council discussed plans Monday for the Zelienople Area Business Association’s 59th annual Horse Trading Days.

The event will run from July 20 through 22 at Four Corners Park and along Zelienople’s Main Street.

During last year’s open-air concert, there was an issue of people loitering on sidewalks and the edges of the road, which caused congestion on the sidewalks and slowed the flow of foot and vehicle traffic, officials said.

To prevent this issue, there will be a security team and one member of Zelienople law enforcement to maintain moving zones.

“Anybody that is outside the venue in that capacity, they are welcome to hear the concert from out there, but those sidewalks do need to remain open,” said Matt Edwards, executive director for the Zelienople Area Business Association and event director.

According to Edwards, the event mostly will be the same as previous years. The only changes are to the date and time of the cornhole competition, from Saturday morning to Thursday evening, and the Saturday evening finale concert will be a ticketed event.

The Business Association received $3,900 in funding from borough council to cover the concert stage and one member of law enforcement.

Edwards teased the unnamed musical entertainment, stating that they are “alternative,” are a platinum recording artist and released a national album last year.
