Juvenile cited for speeding after Delwood Road crash
A 17-year-old male is being cited for speeding after his car was found overturned in a creek along Delwood Road in Butler Township on Wednesday morning.
When crews arrived on scene, a severely damaged black Mazda sedan was flipped onto its roof in water near the train tracks, but no driver was found in the immediate area.
Butler Township police said Thursday that the juvenile male returned to the scene with his mother. Police cited him for driving at unsafe speeds, accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle or property, and failure to report an accident.
Gasoline leaked into the creek as a result of the crash, but Scott Fredrick, the township’s emergency services director, said it was cleaned up shortly after they arrived.
Traffic was briefly stopped as a tow truck removed the car from the water.
Butler Township and Butler City police and Butler Township Volunteer Fire District responded to the scene.
