Butler Ambulance service van struck in wrong way collision
SUMMIT TWP — A woman traveling in the wrong lane on Route 68 near its intersection with Oneida Valley Road backed into a Butler Ambulance Service wheelchair van that was carrying a patient around 11 a.m. Monday, according to first responders.
The woman was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, Rich Grabowski, assistant chief of Lick Hill Community Fire Department, said.
Grabowski said the woman was driving eastbound in the westbound lane on Route 68 in a red Chevrolet Cruze. When another driver motioned that she was in the wrong lane, the woman stopped the car and tried to turn around, he said.
As she was driving in reverse, the woman’s vehicle hit the Butler Ambulance vehicle traveling southbound, Grabowski said.
“There was minor damage to the ambulance,” Grabowski said.
The woman’s vehicle sustained heavy rear damage and was towed from the scene, he continued. Grabowski said the woman was conscious and alert before she was transported.
The status of the patient occupying the wheelchair van when it was hit was unknown.
Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department and state police were among those that responded to the scene.
