Franklin Township supervisors approve GetGo project

FRANKLIN TWP — A new GetGo is a go in the township.

The township supervisors Monday approved a proposed GetGo gas station and convenience store on Route 422.

Supervisors unanimously approved conditional-use applications for the convenience store, fueling station and drive-through; a lot consolidation plan; a land development plan and a grading permit for the GetGo at the intersection of Eagle Mill Road.

The conditional-use approvals were needed to build the business in a general commercial zoning district.

The lot line consolidation plan was needed to consolidate adjacent lots owned by Kelly Schnell Barnhart and Russell and Donna Cawthorne into a 2.7-acre lot.

The land development plan lays out the location of the store, the fuel pumps, drive-through and parking lot.

Herman Bauer, supervisors chairman, said in 2020 he voted against an ordinance amendment that changed the standards and criteria for conditional uses for gas stations, but it passed, and GetGo’s applications meet those standards.

“GetGo meets the new applicable standards for the property and is entitled to the approval by law,” Bauer said.

He said the building will be 6,247 square feet, will have five islands for fueling and a one-lane drive-through.

Bauer said GetGo will have to obtain a highway occupancy permit from the township for an entrance and exit on Eagle Mill Road, a highway occupancy permit from the state Department of Transportation for an entrance and exit on Route 422, a national pollutant discharge elimination system permit from the Butler County Conservation District and a sewer planning module from the state Department of Environmental Protection.

At a public hearing held by the supervisors on Feb. 20, GetGo officials said five fuel islands will have 10 filling stations, including one for diesel fuel, and the drive-through will have space for 11 vehicles to wait in line.
