Lois Mergenthaler

Lois P. Mergenthaler, of Butler, went to her heavenly home on March 21, 2023.

She was born in Kittanning on Sept. 5, 1927, to Louis B. Mergenthaler and Lucille (Crytzer) Mergenthaler Carl.

She was a graduate of Kittanning High School in 1945, and was then employed as a payroll clerk at the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company.

She served on various committees for the Junior Women’s Club and had organized the first Mothers March of Dimes for Armstrong County. Lois was a member of the Kittanning Country Club Golf League, and golfing had been her lifelong passion.

After moving to Butler, she worked for the County Health Department for about four years, and on Dec. 1, 1960, began a 51-year career for Morgan’s Restaurants and later, Morgan Management Company, retiring Oct. 31, 2011. She worked in all phases of the office and in 1973, was appointed corporate secretary.

Her interests were golfing, reading and the theater, as well as serving on the Gaiser board of directors. She loved the people in her workplace and always said they were the best employees anyone could ever have.

MERGENTHALER — There are no immediate services being held for Lois P. Mergenthaler, who died Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

Private burial will be held in the Kittanning Cemetery with no visitation.
