Cranberry Township’s corporate business community is about to get a lot stronger.

Emerson, a St. Louis-headquartered technology and software company, announced Thursday, March 30, that its power and water solutions business is relocating to Cranberry Woods Business Park at 600 Cranberry Woods Drive, Cranberry Township.

Emerson’s power and water solutions business will occupy part of a 375,000-square-foot energy-efficient facility with plans to renovate and modernize the space.

“It’s exciting that Emerson decided to make Cranberry its home,” township manager Dan Santoro said. “They have a large corporate presence in the region. The space was previously occupied by Westinghouse.”

Emerson is a global technology and software company that provides innovative solutions for the world’s essential industries.

Specifically, they help manufacturers optimize operations, protect personnel, reduce emissions and achieve their sustainability goals.

Emerson’s current local presence is based at the RIDC industrial park in O’Hara Township, Allegheny County,. The business has plans to use 142,000 square feet of the 375,000-square-foot facility in Cranberry.

“We are a progressive, well planned and growing community,” Santoro said. “I think their vision aligns with the one that’s in our community.”

Cranberry Township is one of the fastest-growing areas of the Pittsburgh region, conveniently located near major highways and with easy access to Pittsburgh International Airport.

“For more than a century, the Pittsburgh community has been a gracious host to Emerson’s power and water solutions business, and we are proud to be able to continue that relationship while helping contribute to greater sustainability for the region,” said Bob Yeager, president of Emerson’s power and water solutions business.

A phased move from Emerson’s current facility in O’Hara Township to the Cranberry location will begin in June.

“We have talked with Emerson, and they understand our process and permits,” Santoro said. “We are prepared, but I don’t know what their timeline is for move in.”

Santoro said the addition of Emerson will be another significant corporate presence in Cranberry Township, which includes the likes of MSA, Westinghouse and PPG Paints.

“It goes with the vision ... our Cranberry Township board of supervisors set out on over 25 years ago, to create a world-class community with a world-class business park,” Santoro said.

The new facility’s more energy-efficient design will help Emerson achieve its goal of net zero operations by 2030 and a net zero value chain by 2045.

Emerson’s power and water solutions business employs over 2,000 people worldwide, including nearly 500 in the Pittsburgh area.

“This move is a critical step to accomplishing both our talent development and sustainability goals and demonstrates the impact those goals have in our local communities,” Yeager said.

Emerson did not comment on the exact number of jobs that would be coming to the Cranberry area, but Santoro explained the potential economic impact that could be coming.

“I’m sure it’s multiple hundreds if not thousands of jobs and bringing those folks into Cranberry Township is good, not just for the business climate, but the hotels and the restaurants that are here,” Santoro said.

Cranberry Woods Business Park has shared amenities which include an on-site cafe, day care, wellness center and outdoor recreational spaces.
