Motorcyclist taken to hospital after Route 8 crash
A motorcyclist was taken to a hospital Tuesday, April 4, after he rear-ended a vehicle at the intersection of Route 8 and Dinnerbell Road in Penn Township.
Denny Crawford, a corporal with Penn Township police, said the crash occurred just after 5 p.m. when northbound traffic on Route 8 yielded to a Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department engine traveling south to the intersection with Dinnerbell Road.
The engine was responding to a fire call and attempting to turn left from Route 8 onto Dinnerbell Road.
The 32-year-old motorcyclist hit a black Subaru Outback on its back left side as northbound traffic yielded to the fire engine. The Subaru sustained damage to its left rear tire and brake light. The vehicle’s driver was not injured.
The Harley-Davidson motorcycle’s handlebars were bent as a result of the collision.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and suffered lacerations to his head as well as a hand injury. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital by Butler Ambulance Service.
Middlesex Township police also responded to the incident.
