Students return from abroad to Knoch High in April 1970
Three U.S. students and five from countries abroad received American Field Service scholarships at Knoch High School on April 7, 1970, when student council staged three international assemblies celebrating students receiving the scholarships.
The Knoch High School recipients included Elisabeth Kux, of Switzerland, and Carter Tackett, who spent the previous summer in Brazil. Their guests included Chalermpun Sookuntasin, a Mars school district student from Thailand; Viriato da Silva Nunes, a Valley High School student from Brazil; Atsushi Kimura, a Richland High School student from Japan; Jamrad Shula, a Slippery Rock Area High School student from Afghanistan; and Reamto Tazolieri, a Kittanning High School student from Brazil.
Three assembly programs introduced the AFS students to the student body of the junior-senior high school, and the assembly also included classroom visits following the lunch hour.
