Vehicle catches fire in Clearview Mall parking lot
CENTER TWP — A vehicle from a cash management company caught fire in the Clearview Mall parking lot Friday afternoon.
Fire departments responded around 3:30 p.m. to find the vehicle, from GardaWorld, on fire near one of the entrances to Boscov’s at the mall.
According to a witness, flames could be seen coming from the cab of the vehicle and later the hood of the vehicle.
The Butler City Bureau of Fire and the Unionville Volunteer Fire Company were among those responding to the fire.
Chief Mike Pflugh, of the Unionville department, said the driver of the truck reported hearing a loud popping noise before smoke rose from under the hood. The driver was able to escape the vehicle safely, Pflugh said.
Pflugh said due to the close proximity to the building, crews were checking the structure for any damages, but had not noticed any.
