Linda Fierst

Fierst

Linda Elaine (Houpt) (Maxwell) Fierst, 80, of Grove City, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 3, 2023. She was born in Pittsburgh to Charles E. and Dorothy (Haberlein) Houpt, on April 18, 1942.

Linda married Walter A. Fierst, on May 18, 2019, and he survives at home.

She grew up in Gibsonia and graduated from Hampton High School in 1960. During school she played basketball and attended art school during the summers. She earned a business degree from Robert Morris College and began her working career at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh.

A Grove City resident since 1974, she worked at various places: the family business Max-Pax, Grove City Bus Lines, Cooper Bessemer Engine (20 years), USIS Investigations, and McDowell Farm Implement, and she was a volunteer at AHN-Grove City Hospital gift shop for many years.

Linda enjoyed decorating/crafts and was an avid reader of romance books and movies. She enjoyed birds, plants, playing cards, music and playing the organ. Most of all, she loved being with her family.

She was a member of the North Main Street Church of God, Butler, where she sang in the church choir.

She is immensely loved and is dearly missed by her husband Walt, all her family and friends. When you see the red cardinal bird think of her, she loved birds so much, her favorite color was red. We rejoice that we will be reunited with her someday in heaven. Gone, but never forgotten. Always loved.

Linda is survived by her husband, Walter Fierst; two daughters, Elaine Maxwell Egbert, Fredonia, Pa., and Julie Maxwell (Donald) Fleck, Grove City; three grandchildren, Ashley (Darryl, Jr.) Armstrong, Emily Fleck and Trevor Egbert; great-granddaughters, Bella and Alaina Armstrong; her former husband, Richard Maxwell; a brother, Donald Houpt; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Houpt; and a nephew, Darryl (Denise) Houpt. Linda is also survived by Walter’s children, John (Amy) Fierst and Jason (Regina) Fierst; and grandchildren, Lilliana and Alaina.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Houpt; a nephew, Loren Houpt; and her son-in-law, William “Bill” Egbert.
