Martinez

Janet Martinez of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Butler, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Feb. 18, 2023, with her loving family by her side. She always fought with a sense of optimism and was always so brave and so strong.

She was born on April 7, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Seba Raducz.

Janet graduated from Knoch High School in 1962, and later got her nursing degree at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Janet was previously married to Gary Kountz and they were the proud parents of two sons, Brian and Mark.

Later, Janet and her children moved to California, and she eventually met the love of her life, Rudy Martinez. They were wed on March 2, 1986, and had enjoyed so many wonderful years together.

In addition to spending time with her family, Janet enjoyed yoga, watching sports on TV with Rudy, and traveling, especially her yearly trips to Pittsburgh.

Janet worked for many years as a home health care provider. She gave special care to everyone she had helped, having enriched their lives, and had made many lifetime friends.

Janet loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her for her steadfast love, support, caring and generous spirit. She spread positivity and happiness with her contagious laughter and never-ending smile. She truly was beautiful inside and out.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Rudy; her two sons, Brian and Mark; her sisters, Carol (Jerry) Abdelnour of Florida, Seba Michaels of Butler, and Susan Hamilton of Butler; her brother, John (Linda) Raducz of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Kelly; her sister, Phyllis Weiss; her brother, Frank Raducz; her nephew, David; and her great-niece, Ava.

MARTINEZ — A celebration of the life of Janet Martinez, who died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, will be planned for a later date.
