State police: 410 crashes, four fatalities over Easter weekend

Pennsylvania state police investigated 410 vehicle crashes that resulted in four fatalities and 110 injuries during the Easter holiday weekend.

Troop D, which includes Butler County, reported 22 crashes, 10 with injuries and four involving alcohol over the three-day span beginning Friday.

Across the state, alcohol was a factor in 31 nonfatal crashes, police said Tuesday.

Troopers arrested 329 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and issued 15,146 traffic citations statewide. Troopers cited 5,344 motorists for speeding, 481 for failing to wear a seat belt and 80 for not securing children in safety seats.

Troop D reported arresting 34 motorists for DUI and 325 for speeding. Two were cited for not securing children safely and 35 for not wearing seat belts. Another 62 seat belt warnings came from Troop D.

The statewide numbers are similar to those reported during the 2022 Easter weekend that included 449 crashes, four fatalities, 101 injuries, 47 alcohol-related crashes, one alcohol-related crash fatality, 341 DUI arrests, 4,784 speeding citations, 57 child seat citations and 415 seat belt violations.
