SRU softball win streak hits 10
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University softball team increased its winning streak to 10 games Tuesday with a 2-0, 8-4 doubleheader sweep at Indiana (Pa.).
SRU improved to 22-14 overall, 13-5 in PSAC West play.
Julia Montie had two hits and two RBI, Aubrey Mansfield three hits and two runs scored for The Rock in the twinbill. The team’s win streak is the second longest in program history.
Kelsi Anderson pitched a three-hit shout in the first game, striking out six. Alexsa Hurd carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning. She collected a pair of hits as well.
Slippery Rock travels to Clarion for a 2 p.m. doubleheader Friday.
Baseball
SRU split a doubleheader with Mansfield on Tuesday at Critchfield Park, winning the opener, 5-4, and losing the second game, 8-5.
Luke Trueman had five hits in the twinbill, including a pair of home runs, three RBI and three runs scored. He has homered in three successive games and leads the team with six round-trippers on the season.
Joseph Ehland had three hits and three RBI on the day, including a home run.
Eoin Rossman got the first-game victory for The Rock (15-14). SRU returns to action Friday with a 4 p.m. doubleheader at Gannon.
