Eagle staff entries named as finalists in Golden Quills

Several staff entries from the Butler Eagle have been named as finalists in the 2023 Golden Quills competition.

Each year, the Golden Quills honors journalists and news outlets in the region for their expert storytelling and accountability work, receiving up to 900 applications annually from across Western Pennsylvania, as well as parts of Ohio and West Virginia.

Eagle sports editor John Enrietto, Eagle assignment editor Tracy Leturgey, and Eagle staff writers Steve Ferris and Brendan Howe are up for an award in the category for Excellence in Written Journalism (Division 2) for the breaking news coverage on “Butler Football OK’d to Play.”

Eagle photographer Shane Potter is a finalist in the category for Excellence in Journalistic Craft Achievement for his spot news photo titled “Firefighter Pauses to Catch His Breath.”
