Bank branch employee admits to taking $20K

A woman has been charged with stealing more than $20,000 from the Cranberry Township credit union where she worked.

Dawn R. Antoon, 45, of Edinburg, Lawrence County, was charged by Cranberry Township police Tuesday with two counts of felony theft in connection with her time at a branch of Elliott Community Federal Credit Union.

Antoon was the only employee working at the branch on Cranberry Woods Drive, documents showed. She had access to all operations of the branch, including funds.

An audit was conducted at the branch on March 2, police said, and $20,351 was discovered missing.

When questioned, Antoon admitted to police that she took the money over a period of several months and claimed to be unaware of how much she had taken until the audit was conducted.

She told police she intended to return the money but was unable to.

A preliminary hearing for Antoon has not yet been scheduled.
