Patton, Kamenski shine at Invite

SLIPPERY ROCK — Moniteau graduate Jacob Patton and and Karns City graduate fared well for Westminster College at Slippery Rock University’s John Papa Invitational on Thursday.

Patton, a senior, won the 400-meter hurdles in 52.98 seconds and was runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles with a 14.96. Kamenski, a junior, was runner-up in the 400 hurdles in 54.55 and was sixth in the 110 hurdles.

Johnston brothers win on racetrack

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Trainer/driver Aaron Johnston and driver Shawn Johnston, both of Evans City, scored victories during harness racing action Thursday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Aaron Johnston guided Momoni De Vie to a win in a $9,000 Conditioned Trot while Shawn Johnston led A Kolo Dance to triumph against 20-1 odds in a $7,000 Conditioned Claiming Pace.

Stitt helps Clarion softball hit milestone

ERIE — Karns City graduate Alyssa Stitt doubled home a pair of runs and scored one herself during Clarion University softball’s doubleheader split at Gannon on Thursday.

The Golden Eagles now have 17 wins on the season, their most since 1993. Stitt is hitting a team-leading .379 on the season with 12 doubles, four homers and a school-record 37 RBI.

Vittone aids GCC DH baseball sweep

LATROBE — Seven Fields resident Luke Vittone doubled, singled and had an RBI in the first game, singled home a run in the nightcap as the Grove City College baseball team swept a twinbill at Saint Vincent, 9-4 and 9-8, Thursday.

The Wolverines improved to 23-7 overall, 10-2 in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play.
