Representative discuss state Over Order Premium
Led by state Sen. Elder Vogel, R-47th, the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee held a public hearing Tuesday to open discussion regarding the state’s Over Order Premium on Class I milk and what the future of the premium looks like.
Members from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board (PMMB), Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and others attended the hearing.
Those testifying during the hearing appeared divided on whether the premium should be fully dissolved going forward.
There were opinions shared in support of Senate Bills 840 and 841, sponsored by Vogel, which would give the PMMB the ability to collect information is does not have the authority to collect and is necessary for effective administration of the Milk Marketing Law.
