ZELIENOPLE — Borough council approved two stormwater studies during its meeting Monday.

The Southwest Butler Stormwater Planning Group continues to improve stormwater issues in the region by permitting two new stormwater studies to take place in the near future. One will be on stream banks and the other on Connoquenessing Creek flooding areas.

Council president Mary Hess said these are multi-municipal studies and will include Evans City, Harmony and Zelienople. They will last roughly a year and will be conducted by Gannett Fleming and Herbert, Rowland & Grubic Engineering.

“We are looking for failure in our stormwater system as it exists today, stormwater grates, where stormwater flows, breaks in the pipes (and) what we can do to make the flow of stormwater better,” Hess said.
