Fire on McEvoy Road quickly extinguished
CLEARFIELD TWP — Firefighters quickly extinguished a garage fire on McEvoy Road Friday night.
No one was injured, but a generator and some power tools were lost in the blaze, which was extinguished in 20 minutes, according to Rob Shuler, chief of Herman Volunteer Fire Department.
A call came in around 6:30 p.m. reporting the fire was next to a residence. The fire was found in a lean-to roof attached to an open-air garage, Shuler said.
“The homeowner said he was out here working on cars and left. The mom came out here (and) saw the fire,” he said.
Shuler said it’s unclear how the fire started.
“We protected the (garage) first, then focused on putting it out,” he said.
Chicora and East Butler volunteer fire departments also responded to the scene.
