Zelienople man accused of indecent assault of girl, 15

A 26-year-old Zelienople man is accused of engaging in sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl, according to charges filed by state police Thursday.

Donald W. Reese was charged with three felony counts each of statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse for a series of incidents earlier this year.

Reese was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

A woman came to the Butler barracks March 14 with concerns about her 15-year-old daughter being sexually involved with Reese. She told police she found several conversations between them on Facebook Messenger, going back to December 2022.

While the woman was searching her daughter’s phone, Reese called via the Snapchat app. Police said the woman answered the call, and Reese initially told her he was “about to be 18 years old,” then that he was 22.

The woman gave police her daughter’s phone on March 20, according to documents. Conversations between the 15-year-old girl and Reese via Facebook Messenger involved concerns from the girl about sexually transmitted diseases.

In an April 12 interview with the girl at the Butler County Children’s Advocacy Center, it was revealed that she and Reese met in person in February after connecting via Snapchat in December 2022.

Police said the girl reported three instances of sexual intercourse between her and Reese.

According to documents, one instance was in a vehicle at a park in the Butler area. The girl said a police officer approached the vehicle while the two were having sex and said Reese couldn’t park there. The two then moved to an alternate location, police said.

Messages between Reese and the girl recounted the instance, documents showed.

Police said the girl testified to two other incidents — one in a Butler City residence in February and one in the girl’s Oakland Township home in March.

Reese’s preliminary hearing before District Judge Lewis Stoughton is scheduled May 9.
