The Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, welcomed six Butler County students into its ranks in March.

Students initiated into the society must be sophomores, juniors, seniors or graduate/professional students in the top 35% of their class, demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars, and embrace the group’s ideals. Fewer than five percent of students on a campus are invited to join each year.

The Seneca Valley High School Math League team placed first in the region and 11th out of 95 participating high schools across the state.

Individually, senior Eric Combs and junior Alexander Kim tied with the ninth best cumulative scores in the entire state.

Students who had a perfect score on at least one of the six exams include Eric and Alexander along with seniors Nathan Craig, Benjamin Blucher and John Paris.

According to its website, the Math League contests give students an educationally enriching opportunity to participate in an academically oriented activity and to gain recognition for mathematical achievement. Each contest covers topics appropriate to the contest grade level and a variety of difficulty ranges and involves topics of interest to above-average students.
