More than 300 people attended the annual Strike Out Child Abuse event Sunday, April 30 at the Family Bowlaway.
Proceeds from the event would go to the Children's Advocacy Center of Butler County, which had been promoting Child Abuse Awareness month throughout April. The CAC provides services to children who have been victims of abuse, as well as programs for families and communities on how to prevent child abuse from taking place near them.
The Child Advocacy Center planned events for “Blue Sunday,” April 30, as part of its day filled with child abuse awareness events. Churches also spoke out Sunday, urging people to report abuse wherever they see it.
“Anybody can speak up about child abuse. Anybody can call ChildLine. It’s a community’s responsibility to speak up,” said Danielle Schmidt, executive director at the center.
