Temporary sexual violence protection order filed against ex-Butler school director

Bill Halle

Former Butler School Board member William “Bill” Halle has been prohibited from contacting a 17-year-old after the juvenile’s father obtained a sexual violence protection order that claims Halle had a sexual relationship with the minor.

The order, issued Friday, April 28, by Butler County Common Pleas Judge S. Michael Yeager, prohibits Halle from having any contact with the minor, bans him from the plaintiff’s Butler home and prohibits him from abusing, harassing, stalking or threatening the plaintiff and posting any remarks or images of the minor on any social media website or network.

The order remains in effect until it is modified or terminated by the court.

Halle said he resigned from the Butler Area School District board on Sunday, April 30, as well as the boards of the Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School and the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV.

“There is a legal matter that is personal that I am taking care of,” Halle said Monday afternoon, May 1. “That's why I resigned; I do not want to bring this to the doorstep of any of the boards I sit on.”

Halle founded Grace Youth and Family Foundation in 1994. Early Monday, a Facebook post by the foundation said it would not be operating its summer children’s program and the adjoining Net Cafe is temporarily closing.

Halle also is president of the Butler County Republican Committee Inc., an incorporated faction of the Butler County Republican Committee that has been vying for legitimacy since the summer of 2022.

Brian White, superintendent of the Butler district, said Halle’s resignation from the school board was effective immediately and submitted for personal reasons.

White said nothing has been decided by the school board on how and when its members will replace Halle. The board already is taking applications to replace Regenold Griffin, who resigned at the April 24 school board meeting.

Halle’s term runs through the end of the year.

In March, Halle’s name was removed from the primary election ballot by a judge when he failed to file a statement of financial interests with the Butler Area School District by the deadline.
