Butler Township planners approve new pediatrics office
BUTLER TWP — A pediatric doctors’ office is in the process of moving from Moraine Pointe Plaza across the way to near Butler Crossing.
The Butler Township planning commission approved a land development request Tuesday, May 2, from Quick Care Pediatrics to construct a 5,200-square-foot office building on Hindman Road. The approval came with contingencies for the developer, including executing a stormwater agreement — a requirement the commission and township officials emphasized the importance of.
Sean Archer, a physician assistant/certified pediatrics doctor, said the practice has outgrown its office in Moraine Pointe Plaza and needs room to grow. The current office space occupies about 3,000 square feet, he said.
“Our intent with the building is to take one side ... and make it a pediatric practice, and our intentions for the other side of the building doing family practice as well as some minor cosmetic procedures,” Archer said. “We’ve far outgrown where we’re at now.”
Township zoning officer Jesse Hines said the plan exceeded the township’s parking expectations, but the proposal needs to address stormwater management.
“Stormwater with every project is always such a big deal,” Hines said. “Not having unknowns is what we’re always looking for. Now we have a plan that has an unknown.”
Christopher Hamm, project engineer with KDH Consulting Engineers, said the pediatric practice would like to begin construction of the new facility as soon as possible.
