BRADY TWP — Four dogs and a ferret died in a fire Wednesday, May 3, at a mobile home on Lilac Lane, according to officials.

The family who resided at 130 Lilac Lane were not at home at the time of the fire, and five cats — a mother and four kittens — were rescued.

The cats received oxygen following the rescue and appeared to be in good condition, said Mike Pflugh of the Unionville Volunteer Fire Company.

The fire took place at the Brady Hills mobile home park in Brady Township.

Pflugh said he first spotted the fire while on call for a separate medical emergency.

“As we drove by, we saw a large amount of smoke coming from this trailer,” said Pflugh. “I had us dispatched for a structural fire response. I did an interior attack … stopped it at the kitchen, where it appears the fire started.”

Pflugh said the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical.

The fire was under control by 12:45 p.m.
