Two candidates will vie for one open seat on the Clay Township board of supervisors in the May 16 primary election.

Candidates Greg Tebay and Joseph D. Malinski will appear on the Republican ballot. There are no candidates on the Democratic ballot.

Tebay was born and raised in Clay Township. He owns Custom Hot Rod and Cycle Shop, which has been in business for 28 years. He’s a fabricator and mechanic on both bikes and automobiles. He said that as a business owner, he understands efficiency, hard work, trustworthiness, and the value of good communication.

Though not currently a supervisor, he said he wants to run for a position to support Clay Township and assist in bringing new options and ideas to the community.

“I want to give back to the community I have lived in and operated business in my whole life,” Tebay said.

His goals are to understand community and township needs and how best to accommodate those needs. He also would like to work on allocating resources to where they are most needed at times.

He feels that Clay Township operates well, but there is always room for improvement.

Candidate Joseph Malinski did not respond to calls or emails for comment.
