According to Lt. Dave Villotti, of Butler City police, the homeowners interrupted the burglary in progress around 7 p.m.

“One juvenile is in custody, another got away,” he said.

Dustin Deal, who identified himself as the homeowner, said exterior cameras cast footage to their phones of the two juveniles entering the house.

The family of five had been out to dinner at the time, and returned home.

“I caught the guy in my attic,” Dustin said. “We started fighting. He pulled a gun on me. The gun went flying, we started getting into it.”

Dustin said the fight occurred outside the home on Beckert Avenue. As it progressed, police arrived.

Butler Ambulance Service responded for the juvenile male, who was on the ground and bleeding heavily from his face. He was taken away on a stretcher.

A black backpack was removed from the juvenile while he was being treated for injuries, and police were seen returning the items to the Deals.

Dustin said the juveniles had taken multiple gaming devices.

A large amount of blood was hosed off of the ground following the incident.

Several neighbors gathered around the Deals as first responders left, offering their help and condolences about the incident.

Butler Township police and Butler City Bureau of Fire also responded to the scene.
