Ladies going back out on the town
The Ladies Night Out at Butler Country Club always has been popular, but after an absence of nearly four years, the Butler Health System Foundation event has sold out more than a week before it actually takes place.
Kris Bowser, development and events manager for Butler Health System Foundation, said Ladies Night Out used to take place in October and benefit cancer support services at Butler Health System. For its return this year, Ladies Night Out will take place May 16, and proceeds from the event will benefit Women’s Imaging.
“We've had 300 people in the past, but this year we had some people call and ask if there would be tickets left,” Bowser said. “It has always been a well-attended event, but there seems to be more enthusiasm this year.”
Ladies Night Out features a number of shopping vendors, as well as a designer handbag raffle and 50/50, Bowser said. There also is food and music from a DJ, making for a casual night out in Butler County.
Through admission fees, sponsorships and the cost of raffle tickets, Ladies Night Out has managed to raise $10,000 at past events, and Bowser said this year’s event is on track to make that much again.
“All the proceeds will benefit the imaging center,” Bowser said. “They provide vital health screenings, along with compassionate care and expertise to help women live their healthiest lives.”
Bowser attributed the popularity of Ladies Night Out to its variety of offerings. She said many women enjoy the opportunity to buy from multiple local shops that provide items such as clothing, makeup and shoes, and the chance to win prizes through the raffles.
According to Bowser, many women also just enjoy a chance to spend time with one another and support cancer services.
“We’re very excited to bring the event back and it has been met with a very positive response,” Bowser said. “The ladies, they enjoy just getting a night out and they get to shop and have access to vendors you aren't typically able to shop with.”
