Medical helicopter called to Tuesday morning rollover crash on Route 8

BUTLER TWP -- Traffic at the intersection of Route 8 and Hansen Avenue is being controlled Tuesday morning by a four-way stop signs due to a morning rollover crash that impacted the traffic signal and resulted in one person being taken to a hospital by medical helicopter.

The intersection will remain a four-way stop until the traffic signal is repaired, according to a statement from the state Department of Transportation sent around 10 a.m.

There is currently no estimated time for the repair, and motorists should use caution in this area, the news release said.

A four-way stop requires vehicles on all the approaches to a road intersection to stop at the intersection before proceeding through it.

Traffic was briefly blocked near the intersection of Route 8 and Hansen Avenue, near Picklegate Crossing, immediately following the crash, which was reported just before 8 a.m.

Dispatchers reported one patient was in the vehicle and found not breathing. Just after a.m., LifeFlight was requested to respond to the scene.

A black vehicle could be seen overturned in the northbound lane on Route 8 around 8 a.m.

Butler Township police and volunteer fire department and Butler Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
