Maya Nunna, a Valencia native, was among 20 soon-to-be graduates of Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg to be honored at the school’s Lavender Graduation.

The event celebrates the school’s LGBTQ community and allies for their achievements at Bloomsburg.

Elena Brobyn-Navarro, class of ’09 and ’11, and an academic adviser and success navigator at Northampton Community College, served as the Lavender commencement speaker. Brobyn-Navarro was a member of Bloomsburg’s inaugural Lavender Graduation when she attained her master’s degree in 2011.

Lavender Graduation was originated at the University of Michigan in 1995.
