Knoch Primary principal charged with failing to report suspected child abuse
The principal of the Knoch Primary School was charged Monday, May 22, with willfully failing to report alleged sexual abuse that was directly disclosed to him.
State police charged Gregory Mandalas of Butler with “persons required to report suspected child abuse” in an Aug. 4, 2022 case. By law, Mandalas is mandated to report suspected child abuse through his employment at the school district.
According to Knoch School District solicitor Tom Breth, Mandalas has been placed on administrative leave.
“We have no reason to believe that these charges are related to conduct at school,” Breth said. “But the district will take a very hard look.”
According to the criminal complaint, the victim was a 5-year-old white female.
Dr. Gregory Mandalas has been the principal at South Butler Primary School since December of 2016. Prior to coming to South Butler, he served as a principal for the Karns City Area School district.
