Amy Murphy, of Butler, a compassionate, and loving woman, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the age of 95 from her residence.

Born on Aug. 1, 1927, in Sligo, Pa., the daughter of the late Silas and the late Effie Bowser Sarvey, she was the proud wife of the late Paul M. Murphy and a wonderful mother to her three children.

Throughout her life, Amy's faith in the Lord and her love for her family were her guiding principles. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Butler, where she was a member in the Berean Sunday school class. Amy had a strong commitment to her faith, reading her entire Bible every year and sharing her love for the Lord with her family and friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed staying active by going on long walks in her community.

Amy is survived by her daughters, Betty Staley-Dickey of Butler, and Nancy Murphy Daw of Butler; son, Don (Suzan) Murphy of Sarver; three grandchildren, Robert Jr., Robbie Daw, and Brian Staley; two brothers, Earl (Lena) Sarvey of Renfrew, and Walter Sarvey of Prospect; and a number of nieces, nephews and stepsiblings.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Murphy, whom she married on June 30, 1947, and who passed away on Feb. 2, 2015; five sisters; four brothers; and stepmother, Bessie Aggas Sarvey.

MURPHY — Visitation for Amy Murphy, who died Tuesday, May 30, 2023, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. The funeral service will begin at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David Maitland officiating.

A private burial will take place at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
