A Worthington man was killed in a bicycle accident Sunday, May 28, in Sandycreek Township, Venango County, state police in Franklin said Tuesday, May 30.

Christopher Smith, 37, was pronounced dead in the early morning hours after suffering injuries in the crash on Belmar Acres Road.

The cause of death was ruled accidental by the Venango County coroner, Christina Rugh.

First responders were alerted to the bicycle crash around 1:15 a.m., police said, and Smith was found unresponsive and not breathing.

Though lifesaving attempts were made, Smith was not able to be revived, police said. He was pronounced dead at 2:12 a.m.

Community Ambulance Service, Sandycreek and Polk volunteer fire departments also responded to the crash.
