1 injured in rear-end crash involving a school bus in Butler Township
A pregnant woman was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital after a multi-vehicle crash involving an empty school bus Thursday morning, June 1, at the intersection of Evans City Road and Acre Avenue in Butler Township.
According to officials at the scene of the crash, two vehicles and an empty Valley Lines school bus were involved in the incident that happened around 8 a.m.
Officials said a gray sedan attempted to turn left onto Acre Avenue from Evans City Road.
A small school bus slowed to a stop behind the sedan and was rear-ended by a blue Jeep Cherokee. The bottom window of the school bus’ back door was shattered in the crash and the Jeep was towed from the scene.
The female driver of the Jeep was pregnant, officials said, and had two other children in the car at the time of the crash. The woman was transported by Butler Ambulance Service for injuries.
Traffic heading southwest on Evans City Road was closed for about an hour while crews cleared the scene.
Butler Township police, VA Butler Fire and Emergency Services and Butler Township Volunteer Fire District were among those responding to the scene.
