Pittsburgh Rock legend Donnie Iris has been diagnosed with cancer, according to a social media post Monday, June 5, by Donnie Iris and the Cruisers.

Iris received the news shortly after his 80th birthday show in March. The post did not indicate the type of cancer.

“He’s got the best care, and everyone is very optimistic for his full return to health. He recently had surgery and his prognosis is good,” the post said. “But Donnie needs more time to heal, and as a result he will not be able to perform in Youngstown at The Foundation Amphitheater on June 21 with REO Speedwagon.”

It also stated Iris is “looking forward to resuming a regular schedule on July 24 at Blossom Music Center with Foreigner and Loverboy.”
