Those who love the smell of charcoal and the taste of seared deliciousness are invited to attend the first Guys Who Grill from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 16 at Butler Township Community Park, 468 S. Duffy Road.

The event will benefit the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation’s Weekend Backpack Program at Butler Area School District, which provides nutritious foods to disadvantaged students in the district each Friday.

Butler Township is hosting the event.

More than 20 grillers will whip up a signature dish at the event, where those who attend can sample each grilled item, discuss the recipes with the grillers, bid on a basket in the raffle, buy refreshments sold by the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation at the dek hockey rink’s concession stand, and enjoy music by a DJ.

In addition to filling the stomachs of those strolling the park, the food prepared by the guys will be judged by the Butler Township Commissioners and teachers from the Butler Area Vocational-Technical School’s culinary arts program, said Tom Knights, Butler Township manager.
