Mercer County man pleads guilty to threatening FBI
A Mercer County man pleaded guilty in federal court to charges alleging he threatened the FBI agents after agents searched former President Donald Trump’s home in Florida last year.
Adam Bies, 47, pleaded guilty Thursday to fourteen charges in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh before Judge William Stickman IV, and is being held in prison pending sentencing.
The FBI searched Trump’s home as part of an investigation into removal of official presidential records from the White House, according to acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
Bies made threats to murder, injure and assault FBI agents in the days after agents executed a search warrant at Trump’s home on Aug. 8, 2022, Rivetti said.
Charges include interstate threats and influencing or retaliating against a federal officer by threat.
Sentencing in has been scheduled for Oct. 4. Bies faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
