Kusner

James L. Kusner, 70, of Karns City, died early Friday morning, June 9, 2023, in UPMC Hospital, 9100 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh.

Born in Butler Hospital Jan. 9, 1953, he was the son to the late James F. Kusner and the late Elizabeth Vargo.

James graduated from Karns City High School. He retired from Breymas Construction, Saxonburg, after 20 years of service as a welder.

James enjoyed hunting, gardening, cooking, camping, flea markets and his dog, Sassy.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Deal, whom he married June 14, 1975, after 48 years of bliss; two sons, Michael Kusner of Karns City and his friend, Valerie, and Jason and Linda Kusner of Butler; grandchildren, Derek Brown of Karns City, Brian Kusner, who is presently serving with the U.S. Navy in San Diego, Calif., Gavin Mack of Butler, Cienna Mack of Butler and Ellie Shaw of Butler; a number of nieces and nephews; two granddogs; and a brother, Eugene Kusner of Chicora.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Kusner and Diane Neff.

KUSNER — Friends of James L. Kusner, who died Friday, June 9, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, Chicora.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, St. Clare Parish in North Oakland, Chicora, with Father Lou Pascazi officiating.

Interment of cremains will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, across from the church.
