Braden

Hilda S. “Teakie” Braden, 100, of Cabot, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

Born Sept. 15, 1922, in Elkton, W.Va., she was the daughter of Warren Albert Hensley and Aggie McCoy Hensley.

One of seven children, mother to seven of her own, she enjoyed reading, gardening and helping others. She was a member of Zion U.M. Church in Sarver. She was a former member of the Buffalo Township Fire Co. Auxiliary and had been a former den mother to the Scouts.

A pleasant, caring soul, she was rarely angered and possessed an even disposition. She was a friend to all, enemy of none. She enjoyed children very much, often babysitting the neighbors’ kids. She loved animals and picnics during the summer with her family.

She worked as a telephone operator during World War II, where she met her husband, Neal. They were married April 5, 1946. She was able to travel around the country with her husband and three of her children. She even took a trip to Mexico to see the Aztec ruins.

Surviving are her children, R. Terry (Pat) Braden of Cabot, Randy N. (Chris) Braden of Natrona Heights, Larry W. Braden of Jacksonville, Fla., Tim L. Braden of Sarver, Frank (Kim) Braden of Cabot, Barbara (Loyal) Fredley of Cabot and Lura (Mark) Flick of Apollo; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Neal S. Braden, in 2000; her brothers, Conrad Hensley, Eugene Hensley, Curtis Hensley, Adrian Hensley and Clyde Hensley; and her sister, Audrey Berry.
