Catherine ‘Kate’ A. Hutchison

Catherine "Kate" A. Hutchison, 98, of Butler, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Newhaven Court at Clearview.

She was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Butler to Robert Lewis Greer and Matilda Elizabeth (Eiffler) Greer.

Catherine was a 1942 graduate of Butler High School. She worked at W.T. Grant during World War II, in the accounting department at Pullman Standard, Multi List Realtor, Heckett Engineering, and Marmon/Keystone.

Catherine was a member of the Christian Writers Workshop. She wrote her life story, published it and gave the book to family and friends at her 90th birthday party. Catherine liked vegetable and flower gardening and canning. She enjoyed having great parties and traveling with her husband, Bill. Catherine liked taking care of family and friends and was a good cook and mother. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff of Newhaven Court and VNA Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.

She is survived by one son, Robert T. Hutchison and his wife, Sue, of Butler; one daughter, Darlene Hutchison Brady of Butler; one grandson, Thomas Hutchison and his fiancée, Bobbie, of Butler; one granddaughter, Kristie Nagy and her husband, Don, of Butler; one great-granddaughter, Sierra Nagy and fiancé, Josiah Montgomery, of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William V. Hutchison, whom she married on March 20, 1943, and who passed away on March 3, 2003, and three sisters, Mary Burtner, Alice O'Brien and Lauretta Phillips.

HUTCHISON — Friends of Catherine “Kate” A. Hutchison, who died Friday, June 9, 2023, will be received at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler, on from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Neal officiating.

Entombment will take place in Chapel of All Faiths Mausoleum in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association: Greater Pennsylvania Chapter-Harrisburg, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or the donor's favorite charity.
