Fostered dog still missing in Cranberry Township
The Butler County Humane Society is still asking for the public’s help in finding Taffy, a 4-year-old gray pitbull-terrier mix missing out of her foster home in Cranberry Township.
Taffy was last spotted near the area of Foxwood Drive in Cranberry Township between June 11 and 12.
The former Pet of the Month for March ran out of her foster home Wednesday, May 31, on Vandivort Drive.
Peggy Vorpe, Taffy’s foster parent, said Sunday, June 4, that Taffy ran out of her front door after staying three weeks in her home. Vorpe said she and her husband, Russ Vorpe, wanted to give Taffy a second chance, after hearing that she was at the humane society for several months.
“She took to my husband right away. She was a little shy with me,” Vorpe said. “It was coming along really well, she was very happy. We were to sign the adoption papers soon.”
According to Vorpe, Taffy ran out her front door and into the woods near her home. A trainer the couple had hired chased Taffy in the woods, but could not keep up with the dog. The couple called the Butler County Humane Society to report Taffy missing right away, and saw a community response shortly after.
The humane society said people who spot Taffy should call the shelter at 724-789-1150, or call the foster home directly at 724-776-1467.
