Joyce Kohler

Kohler

After a six year battle with vascular dementia, Joyce Viola Kohler, 90, of Butler went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 8 a.m. She passed peacefully, while at the home of her daughter, Lisa, who was her caregiver for four years.

Born May 20, 1933, in Brookville, she was the daughter of Lemuel and Nannie (Lucas) Schrecengost.

Joyce had many jobs in her life, too many to name. Later in life, she worked at James Austin Co. which she retired from, then went on to drive a school bus, which became her favorite job ever. She went from driving to monitoring, all with Valley Lines, then retired for good in 2017. She was a member of Muddy Creek Presbyterian Church in Butler.

She is survived by two daughters, Penny (Rick) Bombara and Lisa (David) Bombara; three grandchildren, John Bombara, Angela (Andy) Hoehn and Bradley Bombara; three great-grandchildren, Lilly, Aidan and Braelynn Hoehn, all of Butler; and one stepson, Ben Kohler of Texas. She is also survived by one sister, Louise Ortz of Fairmount City; and one brother, Roger Dinger of Rochester Mills; and by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and five sisters.
