Lee Hangliter, 88, of Zelienople, formerly of Cranberry Township, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023, while under the care of AHN Hospital in Wexford.

Born Nov. 21, 1934, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Albert Leslie Hangliter and Thelma Marie Patterson Hangliter.

Lee was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. Known as the “Candy Man,” Lee was employed for 55 years as a candy broker in the Western Pa. region with the Pittsburgh Marketing Co. He often was mistaken for Johnny Carson. He enjoyed the game of golf and was a former member of Oakmont Country Club. He enjoyed learning about and discussing politics. Lee will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

Lee leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Richard “Rick” (Sally) Hangliter, Penny (Thomas) Wippenbeck and Lesley (Ned) Bruns; and his grandchildren, Evan (Megan), Scott (Kathryn), Todd, Sydney, Lucas, DJ and Michael.

In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lou Erlanson Hangliter; and two brothers, Robert and Wayne.

HANGLITER — Friends of Lee Hangliter, who died Friday, June 16, 2023, will be received from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m. Wednesday at BOYLAN-GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lee’s memory to the church or charity of the donor’s choice.
